Privacy Policy
We collect as little personal information as we can, and we tell you what we do with it.
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Who we are
This website is run by Native Media, a Pan-African media-tech and strategic communication agency based in Dar es Salaam. Our base is Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. For privacy questions, please use our contact form.
What we collect
We collect personal information only when you give it to us through a form.
| Where | What you give us | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Contact and inquiry forms | Name, organization (optional), email address, inquiry type, your message | To read and reply to your inquiry |
| Native Talks application | Name, email address, phone number (optional), company (optional), chosen track, role, years of experience, why you want to join, what you want to learn or be known for, an optional link to your work, your consent. | To review your application and contact you about it |
| Newsletter sign-up | Email address, the topics you choose, your consent | To send the newsletters you asked for |
Our spam protection uses a hidden form field. It does not track you and collects no extra personal data.
What we do not do
- We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on this website.
- We do not set cookies (see the Cookie Policy).
- We do not ask for information we do not need. A phone number on the Native Talks form is optional, and we never ask for dates of birth or identity numbers.
- We do not sell personal information.
If this changes, we will update this policy first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Visitor statistics
We do not collect visitor statistics at the moment.
The “Chat on WhatsApp” button is a plain link. Nothing is shared with WhatsApp until you click it. If you do, WhatsApp opens in a new tab and your messages are handled under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
How we use it
- To reply to inquiries and, where relevant, to start or continue a working relationship.
- To send the newsletter streams you chose. Every email will include an unsubscribe link, and you can also use the unsubscribe page.
- To keep the website secure and to stop spam.
We handle personal information in line with Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Act, 2022. Our reasons for using it are: your consent (newsletter and Native Talks applications), and our legitimate interest in answering the inquiry you sent us (contact forms).
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run the forms and the newsletter. They act on our instructions and may process data outside Tanzania.
| Service | Provider | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Form handling and inbox | Formspree | Receives what you submit through the contact and application forms and emails it to us. |
| Newsletter email | Buttondown | Stores newsletter subscribers and sends the newsletters. You confirm your address by email before you are added. |
| Website hosting | Netlify | Hosting providers see technical data such as IP addresses in server logs. |
This site links to other services (for example YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, RSS.com and LinkedIn). Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Share buttons are plain links. They do not load third-party code on our pages.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Inquiries and replies | Up to 24 months after our last contact with you. |
| Native Talks applications that are not accepted | 12 months after the programme’s selection is finished, in case we open a new intake. |
| Native Talks participants | 24 months after the programme ends, to give references and keep alumni contact if you agree. |
| Newsletter subscribers | Until you unsubscribe. We then keep only your address on a do-not-email list so we do not email you again. |
| Records of a working relationship, such as contracts and invoices | As long as tax, accounting and contract law require. |
After these periods we delete or anonymize the information. You can ask us to delete it sooner (see below).
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. To do this, contact us using the details below. You may also complain to Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Commission if you think we have handled your information wrongly. We would like the chance to put things right first, so please contact us.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Secret keys for form and email services are kept out of the website’s public code. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive information through the forms.
Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top.
